Weekend activities in Arroyo Grande & San Luis Obispo

Join us for a weekend of celebration and exploration! We've put together a list of wonderful activities and local gems in Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo to enhance your stay for our 50th wedding anniversary. There's something for everyone to enjoy.

Arroyo Grande

The Arroyo Grande area has a variety of restaurants we enjoy including Rooster Creek Tavern, Blue Seafood and Grill, Pono Pacific Kitchen, Old Juan's Cantina, Rory's Ice Cream, Klondike Pizza, and Ember. For coffee lovers, Mule Bakery or Greenhouse Coffee Co. are our favorites. You'll also love simply roaming the Arroyo Grande Village and encountering the famous roosters that freely wander about. Don't forget to check out the local shops for unique finds!

Coastal charm

Spend a day at one of the many  beautiful beaches in the area, enjoying the sun and surf. Don't miss a visit to Morro Bay, famous for its iconic Morro Rock, charming waterfront, and opportunities for bird watching. It's a perfect spot for relaxation and stunning views. A visit to Montaña de Oro State Park for breathtaking coastal views and hiking; this is an excellent day trip. The Grover Beach Boardwalk is a beautiful path along the Meadow Creek Trail. The trail begins at the Pismo State Golf Course and meanders through the sand dunes to a beach overlook area before continuing to the Monarch Grove Butterfly Preserve; this walk is easy and enjoyable.

Wineries

The Edna Valley is easily accessed from Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo and is home to a collection of wineries celebrated for their good wine, stunning views, and inviting atmosphere. Many offer unique tours that provide an in-depth look at their winemaking processes, making for an educational and enjoyable visit. It’s the perfect place to relax, socialize, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the California Central Coast.

San Luis Obispo

Visit downtown San Luis Obispo (SLO) during your stay. While in SLO you can tour Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. The Mission offers a glimpse into early California history. After your visit to the Mission, you can enjoy a variety of restaurants located around the Mission. The downtown area boasts numerous dining options, from casual cafes to fine dining establishments, perfect for lunch or dinner. Fun fact! Robert and Erin had their engagement photos taken steps away from the Mission in Downtown SLO. Some of our favorite restaurants in SLO are Giuseppe's, Bear & The Wren, Ox+Anchor steak house, Taste, Flour House,  Shake Shake Fresh Noodle, and The Madonna Inn.
